Great Basin

Postby davantalus » Oct 25, 2012 2:43 am

Some friends and I drove from southern California to the far north-eastern reaches of Nevada and Utah to play in some really nice caves about a year ago. Here's some of the highlights.

Hahaha! I was honestly surprised that all of our lights (especially the big Fenix) made it out the other side.

It was a bit intense at first... but then you quickly got used to sucking the ceiling and it became a wonderland!

Glad it didn't disappoint you. That's one hell of a latency issue. ;)

I assume you mean one of the two key elements that determine computer network performance and not the stage of psychosexual development following the phallic stage that extends from about the age of five or six to the beginning of puberty.

Yes it is. But it's not worth money I don't have, to buy better internet access so I can waste more time.

I've never been a good swimmer or become really comfortable in the water, so I struggle a bit when I have to start sticking my head under the water in a cave. During a recent survey I had just a few inches of arispace in a tight crawl and I started getting a bit anxious. So it was really enjoyable to get to see a cave that I myself may not have the guts to explore.

That deserves an A for effort.

You and me both.

Update!

If you're planning on going to the 2016 NSS Convention, then you too, could visit these sweet caves. :)

Well done. The graphics over the sign at the open? Was the video dedicated to someone with that? Details?

Thanks! :)

For the number of times I've stared at that scene, I never actually read more than what I expected to see in that sign! Looks like the sign actually says, "In memory of our friend J Riley Bembry". I'm pretty sure Riley was the owner of the nearby cabin and associated mines (see: The Evening Star Mine, Mojave) We just stayed the night there and that's where the video picks up.

I subtly dedicated it to my good friend Kevin (see credits). Unfortunately he never got to see it completed. :(

For a bit more background on our adventures and the voiceover allusions, you could also watch: https://vimeo.com/36160420
