I have permission from Kris Hartman of LEG/SEMO to send you this link.

Nice!

Here's a nice salamander pic I got in Tumbling Rock Cave during the convention last year:

Since we're all showing our Salamanders ... here's one I shot during the Alabama Convention too.

This was at the bottom of Neversink -

Two options:

1 - if the photo is already stored on another website, right-click on it, select properties, and copy the URL. Then add it to your post with [img]in%20front%20and[/img] after it.

2 - if the photo is on your hard drive, click on "upload image" at the top of the page on this discussion board. A "browse" window appears, and you can select your picture. Once you click "host it" a new ImageShack window appears with several lines of text. Highlight and copy one of these lines (I usually do the one entitled "thumbnail for forums 1", near the top of the page). Finally, paste it in your post.

This gives you a clickable thumbnail. If you want a bigger image (like the one in my previous post), you can copy one of the "hotlink for forums" lines near the bottom of the ImageShack window. Or you can just change the name in the thumbnail URL from "---.th.jpg" to "---.jpg". (Removing the "th" means it's no longer a thumbnail.) If I'm posting the full-size image, I usually resize my photo first - shrinking it to about 640x480 pixels. Otherwise it gets a bit toooo big for the forum, and can be really annoying...

Good luck! :waving:

(Here's another shot from the same trip to Neversink, but this time I've made it a clickable thumbnail) -

PS - that one's a human, not a Salamander...

My buddy Ramona sent me some sallymander pics and I'd love to post them like ya'll are doing but apparently this pbb doesn't seem to allow uploading pics directly from one's computer... .... .... either that or I'm just computer-stupid to know how to do such things... it's a cute widdle fella too... not at all like the pretty orange ones ya'll been showing.

Actually it does. There is an "Upload Image" link on every page (in the top buttons below Cavechat.org). NZcaver explained how to do it in this very discussion. I also have a little tutorial in a thread in the "Please Read" section:

You need to look at the different codes on the page that pops up when you upload the picture.

If you want to do the actual image, it's the last bit of code that says "Direct link to image" NOT the one that says "Show this to friends". Then you copy that code and place the URL code on each side of the image code (just mouse over the image code that ends in jpg so it's highlighted and hit the "URL" button just above your posting box and it's done automatically.

Quick off-topic post here: Since some people were having so much trouble with the coding to get pictures online, I've added a NEW way to upload images that is much, much simpler.

How it works:

1. When starting new thread or posting reply you will see text that says "Add image to post" linked below the text area on the left (just above the Spell Check button).

2. Click that link, and a popup will appear where you should select image and add description to that image (description is optional):

3. You click "upload it" link, image is uploaded and bbcode is automatically inserted in post.

4. You click "submit" to submit post and thumbnail of image appears in post. There's nothing else to do.

Did I do it wrong? There were so many codings to choose from so I just picked the one that said it was a thumbnail for forums ...
