Horsethief?

Horsethief was actually what I was thinking of too at first but I think Marlatt's cave entrance is too small to be Horsethief. My guess is that it is probably one of the lesser known caves near the Bighorn-Horsethief Cave System.

Natural Trap, on the right-hand side of the road going up to Bighorn Caverns. It's been so long ago, that difficult to recall, but it kind of rings my belfry.

Not Horsethief, not Bighorn, not Natural Trap.

Hint - very close to a dramatic canyon in the area.
