My turn.

I don't think we've had any Washington caves yet, so here's a fairly well-known example to guess at. Bonus points for identifying the room.

Well, it's not Dynamited, so...haven't been to too many others, of late. A lot during the convention, but that picture has me fooled, you're right on that!

Just stumbled on this old topic, and apparently Ernie did guess the cave photo correctly way back in May. It is Dynamited Cave. My apologies for not following up sooner.

I will invite Ernie to continue the photo game if he chooses to, otherwise somebody else can have at it. :waving:

We just came out of a nine-hour electrical problem, can you believe? Understand it was an automobile accident last night, so...slowly getting things back together. As soon as I lit up the hurricane lamp this morning, guess what? Yep! The lights and power went on, so....had to go and change things, put things on, and fool around with the security system. Even our daughter was notified--down in Turlock, CA--as I had a hiccup in the security system and they wanted verification. Ah, modern technical toys.

I had forgotten all about the photo guessing, so...put something up, Kiwi, and let's see what we can do with it...or someone else might be able to come up with a name for you. Have you had any of that "Black Death," yet, now that the Maya's last days on earth have gone by the wayside. Of course, it might happen on this day of triskaidekaphobia, so...who knows?

Shoshone Ice Cave? Its been a bazillion years, but that kind of looks a little familiar, although those "TV" screens look a little odd. I really am not certain on this one. Is it still open?

It is still open, and it used to be a commercial cave in the 70's. And those are windows. And it's not Shoshone, that's in a different lava flow. Here is a picture from the other side of the windows. One more hint and then ill shut up, if you went to the 1999 NSS Convention in Filer, Idaho then you probably went to this cave.

That would be the Crystal Ice Cave in King's Bowl, Idaho. Creepy, wonderful place.

And we have a winner!!! It is indeed an eerie place, and with the ice returning you can see old flashlights, gloves, batteries, etc. more than a foot deep in the clear ice. Your turn.

Hey there not so fast!

Here's one from Alabama. This pit is over 200' deep and has lots and lots of creepy crawly wildlife at the bottom. So much that getting off rope without stepping on something alive can be challenging.

The entrance:
