Major Victory at Bracken Cave

The San Antonio Express news reports that, after more than a year of cobbling together a deal, a group of public officials and private organizations including the Edwards Aquifer (a tip of the hat to NSS's AVP) will buy 1,500 acres near Bracken Cave, the seasonal home for millions of bats, and prevent any future development there, officials said. On a personal note, I use the bat flight out of Bracken as the wallpaper for my cell phone - the flight of bats is so dense as to form a nearly uniform backdrop for caller info.

Wonderful news. I've watched the flight and even explored the cave for a short distance to see the living guano piles.
Kudos to the NSS for this, too, and the Edwards Aquifer and anyone else involved. Well done.
