The Dogwood City Grotto proudly presents
“Bats and Karst Conservation: A Modern Day Shift”
at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, Georgia
Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.

As part of our grants program, The Dogwood City Grotto is hosting an educational event to showcase the various projects around the country that your contributions at the TAG Fall Cave-In help to support. We will have two speakers that will present on various topics of importance and relevance to today’s changing world of cave conservation and protection.

Jim “Crash” Kennedy, M.E., Conservation Biologist, Cave and Mine Resources Specialist with Bat Conservation International (BCI) will present “A Quarter Century of Bat and Cave Conservation”. Jim will highlight the many achievements that BCI has accomplished during its 30 year history including many cave conservation projects that he has been personally involved with during his 15 year tenure with the organization. Jim is also a Fellow and Life Member of the National Speleological Society.

John Lovaas, representative for the “Save the Bats Committee” of the Minnesota Speleological Survey, will present “Fighting for Cave Conservation in Wisconsin”. John will discuss the events surrounding the emergency orders issued by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources last year to exclude bats from caves and how they were able to influence the decision making process.

This will be a great event that you won’t want to miss! The nature center opens at noon, with the first speaker expected to begin at 1:00pm. Access to the presentation will be FREE and open to the public, but if you want to tour the many trails and gardens on the property, the cost of admission is $8 Adults, $6 Seniors, $5 Children Ages 3 - 12, Children 2 and under are free.

Hi Folks, Just wanted to remind you about this presentation 1 week from Sunday. Did I mention its FREE and open to anyone? If you are from out of town, make a weekend trip of it. There's lots to do and see in Atlanta. Access and attendance for the presentation are free, but if you want to see the Nature Center grounds, I have a $2 off coupon. Message me and I will send it to you.

I hope to see all of you there - Lynn
