I wonder why people have such a problem with it if they don't pose any risk? Plus I'd trade their "problem" with our WNS problem any day.

Guano. I have that trouble with pigeons. I can only imagine what gajillion of fruit bats would leave. Still, for me it would be cool to have so many around.

I think some cavers have as big of a knee jerk reaction that bats are good, as the media has for making bad stereotype headlines.

http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/ne ... 72fee562d7

Mr King can’t spend any time outside because of the bat urine and faeces that rains from the trees in his yard.

Two-year-old son Alex is not allowed to play outside in the yard. Mr Beitz said they cannot hang out washing because of the urine and faeces from the bats. The noise the animals make day and night is deafening. “We keep the doors and windows shut and day and night run the airconditioning. We have to do that to keep cool and to keep out the noise and the stench,” he said.

“We use our clothes dryer all the time. Everyone does here. You can’t hang your clothes out or they get covered in urine and manure."

Ah ok that makes more sense now. I didn't realize it was THAT bad. Sounds like the polar opposite bat problem that we have here in the US. And I think your 100% right about the knee jerk reaction from cavers regarding bats because that was the first thing I thought lol

I'm very happy we have bat lovers here on CaveChat. I just like everyone to be grounded in reality! :-) That way we can work to happy solutions where ordinary folks don't become bat haters.
