Feature Film director needs your stories

Postby fritzfeick » Jun 17, 2009 1:24 pm

Dear Climbers/Cavers,

I am planning to shoot a top-notch action thriller
feature film about a rafting/climbing trip that goes horribly
awry. Climbers confront aliens which have been locked in caves
and which eventually take over a 'model' town in the Ekalaka
of Montana.

Need some juicy stories of conflicts on trips to add depth
to my story. I'm looking for some real stories of overcoming
hardships and encountering unforseen dangers and fears.

My goal is to make great cinema that really rings true.

Can you help?

Please send your stories to me at:
fritzfeick@sbcglobal.net

I cannot offer money, but will give you a screen credit at
the end of the film. Thank you for considering it!

Best,

Fritz Feick

Sometimes real life is more exciting the fiction.
Caving is fun but people are always more important.

Hmmmm....rafting, climbing, and caving near Ekalaka???

Probably thought that Ekalaka would be easier for audiences to pronounce than "Wibaux".   <--sorry, that was a joke that only Montanan's would get.
Caves are rare and precious things. Cavers...even more so. Treat each accordingly.

I had a really great (scary) interaction with an alien in a cave once. But I won't tell about it if I don't get paid.

I am an alien in a cave.
I've gotten a bad rap for all the movies made about me over the years.

Fritz,

you may have noticed, cavers have been burned too many times over the years by "top notch" crap that casts caves as nothing more than dark abodes of death and evil (and alien abodes) and cavers as either scantily clad fools or reckless fools or both.

Not the best place to fish for script fodder...besides we get about 1 person a month asking virtually the exact same thing.... so its been done.

How about a brilliant but eccentric self taught scientist who through careful but difficult exploration and mapping discovers a fascinating and fragile karst ecosystem with strange alien-like creatures imperiled by a greedy corporations plans for reckless development. ....at least we might share stories for that one :)
I'm not scared of the dark, it's the things IN the dark that make me nervous. :)

And just why should we give away our best stories when people who sell film rights to novels or short stories get $$$$$ to $$$$$$?

We may spend time in the dark, but we're not dumb.
And we don't go to see alien movies. Or, are these illegal immigrants? Now illegal immigrants (aka "aliens") in the US west living in caves might be pretty plausible if you set it in New Mexico. Illegal immigrants would freeze to death in Montana caves in the winter. And you could use English subtitles, market it overseas, and maybe even show it at Cannes.

have fun!
