I've been wild caving for only about a year now, and I love it. I joined the Springfield Plateau Grotto about 4 months ago and try to be underground every chance I get. It's definitely the best organization I've ever gotten involved with. I really enjoy making a difference in the caves by cleaning graffiti and trash and going on our speleothem restoration trips. I was caving before I joined the Grotto, but I didn't realize how much more fulfilling it is to have a purpose when caving. When I'm not caving, I work as an engineer in hydrology and water resources, mostly doing stream restoration and dam design. I'm an avid rock and mineral collector, as well (too many geology courses will do that to ya).
I just got back from a tourist trip to mammoth cave. It was amazing to see places that I'd only read about (and meet people that wrote those books!!!).
