Hey all,

As one of the few cavers that are active in the Black Hills, I wanted to introduce myself. Although I am not a member of the NSS,I cave regularly, and rarely miss a meeting. Since I am neither a Federal Park employee, nor on the inner "old boy network" of Wind or Jewel cave,my interest is in the wild, unknown caves.

I started seriously looking for caves, after a few people in our grotto said "Don't bother- They've all been found". Well,I am happy to report, that is not true!

Not much vertical out here, but a few of our caves need a rope. Our longest in cave drop, is only about 50 feet, but we have many cliffs that have holes that need checkin'.........

If you get up north, give me a holler.

While you may not have as many caves as we do here in TAG, I bet there aren't many places in the world that are more beautiful in which to spend your time looking for them!!!
Welcome aboard!

You post reminded of this joke!

A man appeared before St. Peter at the pearly gates. "Have you ever done
Anything of particular merit?" St. Peter asked.
"Well, I can think of one thing," the man offered. "Once, on a trip to the
Black Hills out in South Dakota, I came upon a gang of high-testosterone
Bikers who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her
Alone, but they wouldn't listen. "So, I approached the
Largest and most heavily-tattooed biker and smacked him on the head, kicked
His bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground." I
Yelled, "Now, back off biker boy or you'll answer to me!"
St. Peter was impressed. "When did this happen?"

"Just a couple of minutes ago."

That is a good one! You should post it In the jokes forum,if it's not already there.

I can certainly relate to the Sturgis event. I usually pick that time to go out in the hills and camp. The noise off the Interstate is never ending.
However,I shouldn't complain. Because of the Rally,I now have killer cell phone reception on the eastern side of the hills!
