Hello all,
My chat handle is a name stolen from a novel called Vurt. I'm looking to get involved w/ a grotto local to Tahoe/North San Juan, CA and hopefully get some treks under my belt. I've been in several touristy caves, like Thurston Lava Tube in HI and similar.

Apart from caving, I like to drink :whiskey:, listen to doom metal, read & try to keep up with the ol' rat race without letting it destroy me.

Cheers,
-CC

The Mother Lode Grotto based in Sacramento is probably the closest to you.

Interesting that you say that you like drinking cuz the next Mother Lode Grotto meeting takes place at the store called "Total Wine" which offers wine tasting. This is the first time I have ever heard of a grotto meeting held at a wine store. The Mother Lode Grotto has a pretty good website that seems to be kept up to date and the grotto seems to be pretty active offering all sorts of caving trips.

There is also the Northern Nevada Grotto based in Reno, NV so they may be closer to you if you live closer to Tahoe than North San Juan.

The BIrmingham Grotto met at Bowlling Alley for a short time. (Private room)
Most recently, we met at the vacant upstairs floor of a local Bar & Grill. Full service at the grotto meetings = lively discussion. :yikes:
