Hi, my name is Karla, and I have been bitten by the cave bug. I would love to explore and learn more about caves. I love science, and just got my degree in biology and been reading about extremophiles in caves and cant get enough of it. Nice to virtually meet you all on here, going to go spend some time reading some posts now :)

Welcome! There's a bunch of cavers in Carlsbad that you can probably hook up with.

Hi Squirrel Girl! I saw that there was a local grotto here, going to join them in their meeting tonight! Im excited to meet new people, learn new things and hopefully go on some neat adventures. Wonder if any of them are on the forums here.

Not too much, I don't think. Once in a while, Stan Allison will post here. I don't know if he does a lot with the local grotto though. There are enough people in the area, I'm sure you'll find some folks.
:-)

Welcome to both caving and to our forums Karla. We have several grottos in the area though I am assuming you are very near Carlsbad. As far as Texas Grottos are concerned you have the Permian Basin Speleological Society located in Midland, Texas. Also of note, Texas has a huge caving "scene" with multiple state level entities as well as both a spring meeting and fall get-together. But yes before I ramble on to long welcome to our little world and if you have any questions dont be afraid to PM me.

Howdy Howdy! I just moved out to west Texas a couple months ago from Galveston. Welcome to the area and caving! Once I get my vehicle I'll be heading over to the PBSS and joining up, but until then I'm stuck in Alpine :) Can't wait to see you at TCR!!! :P you'll definitely wanna go. (it's in October)
