New to the board.....but a life long wild caver. Greetings. As to why I cave? I think I can speak for almost everyone here when I say, to step somewhere on this planet that no one has ever stepped, to be the first human to witness the grand view of a cave that no other human has ever seen.

Where would you be from?

Origionally, Abingdon Virginia, in the mountains. Lots of wet caves out that way, because the water table is pretty much in our faces. Most of the wells are Artisian, so you can imagine what a quick rain will do to your caves. Lot of cavers drown up there when they ignore the weather. Now I live in Athens Alabama, north of Huntsville.

There's some great folks over at the Huntsville Grotto. If you haven't already, you ought to go check them out.

Not to talk bad about them, but I talked to a couple members and they seemed a little uppity. Maybe they had bad fish that day or something.

Anyway....We found a really nice vertical in Huntsville....(I'd guess about 150-160 ft) But no cave system....Got some very nice pictures, if your interested I built a Facebook page (and I hate that stuff) for adventure pics. spiritwraithe@yahoo.com
