I recently purchased a DistoX modification kit from paperless.bheeb.ch. But I can't find a Leica A3 to buy every site online that lists it for sale has it out of stock.

Does any one have a source of Leica A3 or have an old, functional one that they would like to part with?

They come up on eBay once or twice a week- usually runs $120-$180 by the end of the auction.

Look in the links section of Beat Heeb's DistoX homepage. he has identifed some alternate models of rangefinder, based on the A3 design that are still available.

Doh! I had steered the folks at Mystery Cave, MN towards a Disto X, but their state purchasing guidelines don't allow them to buy used items. They just got a DUSI, and are wrestling with the calibration. Had I known about the Stabila, I would have sent them down that route. I like my Disto X a lot, and will be going the Stabila route for my next one.

I've wrestled with that too. It takes some patience, but can be done.
