MySQL Implementations for Cave Database Applications

Postby Aaron Addison » Jul 9, 2008 6:36 pm

Does anyone out there have a Cave Database (locations, inventory, etc.) that uses MySQL database as the backend AND that they are happy with?

I need to migrate a FileMaker database to a web interface and clearly the folks at FM aren't too keen on you doing this unless you pay through the niz-oze. MySQL is robust enough (and then some), but I would be interested in hearing about any experiences in building web front ends that not only allow for querying data, but also for data input from multiple sources. Oh, and needs to be password protected!

Fire away....

I don't know if you've evaluated CaveDB. It is a php/mysql application that manages cave info. It has been awhile since I looked at it but from memory it did not have users or authorization so you would need to add at least http auth. I haven't used it for anything useful, just installed and looked over the code.

I haven't had any time to help out, but maybe you can help improve it.
