That's pretty cool. Back when we were doing the Wakulla 2 project, we got to thinking of adapting the Digital Wall Mapper into something that could be used at mines. You could even incorporate the geology into the 3D display to help understand things better.

One problem with that robot is that if it's rolling on the floor, you could miss alcoves that it couldn't drive into. That might be more of a cave problem than a mine problem, though.

Was thinking the same thing... good for mines, bad for caves. Eventually they'll figure that out too.
