This is an attempt to un hijack the # caves/state thread. for the purposes of discussion what are some thoughts regarding language that could help standardize definitions like "cave" "karst feature" etc. across the various State Surveys. The goal would be to determine useful language strictly applicable to State Cave Surveys not necessarily to redefine the terms for use in broader contexts. As an example, the language should be such that states would neither be burdened with tracking voids generally considered insignificant for caving purposes (unless a seperate class is also desired) nor such that only cave-rich states like MO and GA would have appreciable numbers of features that met the criteria (i.e. 1 mile long and 100' deep)
