what is the differance between the two?

Whats up everyone? I was just wondering the difference between surveying above ground and underground. i am a land surveyor and was wondering if what i know about property corners, trave, boundaries, turning angles was similarly applied underground? and if so how accurate is it because above ground we get down the the thousandth of a tenth? i am very interested so any help would be great. Thanks

The principals are the same - linear line-of-sight between fixed stations, in three dimensions. But the environment and thus the equipment and accuracy is different, and we also add passage dimensions and details. There are many sources of info on cave surveying, including this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_surve ... artography
