DistoX Production

Postby kdxn » May 16, 2012 1:04 pm

A number of people were not able to buy a DistoX board from the last production so I have been trawling the world's electronics distributors and OEM manufacturers for the obsolete parts.

Found some !

There will be a second production run with boards available end of June 2012.

You will need a Disto A3 or Stabila LE50 to do the upgrade.
These are the only Laser Rangefinders that this DistoX board will fit into.

I should have replied here.

How many boards do you plan to make this time?

Waiting for the last components to arrive.
Have ordered 81 PCB's.

Hope to have them for programming and testing mid-June.

Great. I know a couple of people who may be interested (and who own A3s already).

Tom is installing the two boards you sent me. One in an A3 and one in a LE50. Plan to calibrate and test them Memorial Day weekend. It will be interesting to compare data on 6 different Disto Xs. Also have the next round of experiments on the prototype DXT Disto X to try.

I'm spending too much time calibrating and testing Disto Xs and not enough time caving!

Kevin,

Calibrated and tested the A3 and the LE50 with the two new boards. They calibrated fine and tested out well.

Nice to get the feedback on the DistoX boards.

Here to help if anyone has any issues.

New production proceeding. Just got the batch of obsolete components that I found in the far east. Had to click on non-english tabs for a long time on many different websites before finding something that might be okay and then try to find the email address, communicate via google translate, get a reasonable price (albeit steep as ever with obsolete components), try to check the company is legitimate, arrange payment and then hope the components are not fake and are delivered.

The new boards are still on track for end of June.

This time, I will make sure I get one !

Hi, what do I need to do to get one of the DistoX module?
I live in Portugal. Is it possible to send it?

Best regards

If you still have some boards available, I am interested in purchasing one! Thanks!
There's nothing that makes me more excited than finding a place underground that no one has ever seen or been in!

The latest DistoX board production has been problematic.

Hope to work through this over the next few weeks.

I will be posting an update on progress.

Apologies to everyone waiting.
Some of the components failed on the second production batch and that has caused another component to fail.
I am working through the boards to identify the failed components. Replacement components are on order but it will take time to get the boards fixed and I do not know when.

A few boards are okay and will be made available shortly.

This will be the last batch of DistoX 1.0 boards from me.

Replacement components have worked. I am now programming and testing the last of my DistoX production.

Have started contacting people on the waitlist to let them know boards are available.

The DistoX boards are almost all gone.

A couple of people have not responded so there are a few boards still to be allocated.

From page of Beat Heeb (http://paperless.bheeb.ch):

PocketTopo Version 1.37

"There was no success in building a version for the Leica Disto DXT. The DXT will soon be replaced by the Leica Disto X310. A project to build a new DistoX based on this model is in progress."

Hi, I really would like to have a Distox but I couldn't find it anywhere. Someone told me that I could find here the boards so if I find a Disto A3 I have all the necessary to make my Distox.

How can I buy the board?
I Know other people that, depending on the price, could be interested.

Could you help us?

Thanks :big grin:
