Getting back to the original topic, American cavers are split down the middle on Compass vs Walls, I think. Start with one of those and you can't go wrong. I don't have actual numbers, but this would be my guess:

US cave cartographers, software choices
Walls or Compass: 90%
Things other than Walls or Compass: 10%
Therion: -10%

I agree, just recently started trying (and i stress trying) to survey.....I agree with the punching babies comment...driving me to drink, I swear.
