Dogwood City Grotto Survey Day

DCG Survey Day!!

Finally something for Atlanta cavers to do without driving 3+ hours!
Have you always wanted to play a bigger roll in surveying, but you
are afraid your instrument reading skills are not up to snuff? Think
your eyesight is too poor to read instruments? Are you new to
surveying and don't feel like you know enough to participate? Are
you already a good surveyor, but have no idea what happens to the
data once you are done in the cave? Have you ever wanted to draft
your own cave map? If you answered yes to any of these questions,
May 6th is your day!

We will be running survey lines around the yard, setting up stations,
reading instruments, keeping good survey notes, and then take what
we've learned to Brent's cartography class. This will be a fun,
IN-TOWN event designed to refresh older surveyors and inspire cavers
who have not yet surveyed. Absolutely everyone is welcome!

Date: May 6, 2006
Time: noonish
Place: Kelly Norwood and Mike Elble's house, Tucker, GA
What to bring: old clothes you don't mind getting wet and/or dirty,
vertical gear (not required), survey gear (if you have any).

Contact Kelly Norwood or
Brent (btaulenbATusgs.gov) and Nancy (flittermiceATworldnet.att.net) Aulenbach with any questions you may have.
Be safe,
