Blunder detection implemented in Auriga 1.24

Postby lleblanc » Jul 7, 2010 11:55 am

Hi,

I wish to inform you that Auriga's most recent version (1.24) introduces Compass-like blunder detection for loops. This loop analysis feature produces a list of hypotheses for explaining the closure error of a survey loop (measurement errors, inverted shot or wrong tie-in stations.) It is then up to the cartographer to evaluate those hypotheses to determine which one, or none, is the cause of a survey blunder that plagues a survey loop. Blunder detection in Auriga was implemented because errors are better fixed early and on location.

Auriga is a cave survey freeware that runs on Palm OS handheld computers (PDAs) and is meant to bring in the underground the benefits of computerization, providing survey help (graphic line plot, loop handling, input validation, cave networks, etc.) while the cartographer is still in the cave.

A 10'-video of the new features of version 1.24, among them blunder detection, is available on Youtube:
