NSS IT Committee Chairman Needed
After two and a half years of outstanding service, IT Committee Chairman Josh Bailey is stepping down. The search is on for someone to take his place. With the importance of our Web site to the Society and its members, the IT Committee Chairman is critical to NSS operations and success.
We are looking for an experienced Unix (Linux) systems administrator, with additional skills as listed below. The volunteer would be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a Linux email + Apache web server in a managed hosting environment, including system maintenance and backups, user account maintenance, and Perl scripting.
The time commitment is at least 8 hours over a month, when all is going well. The chairman will be expected to respond quickly to e-mail, and address problems as they arise. S/he will also be expected to work with other NSS Committees, Internal Organizations, and advertisers who interface with the NSS server. The committee has several experienced members assigned to various tasks, and the chairman may recruit additional members as s/he feels necessary.
Necessary core skills:
* Unix systems administration (esp. Linux).
* Apache web server administration
* Knowledge of HTML
* Perl/CGI scripting
Desirable skills:
* MySQL administration
* Knowledge of common web publishing tools, such as DreamWeaver and FrontPage.
* Javascript, ASP
