NSS Server Migration - Update

Postby vtdarrell » Aug 16, 2008 12:07 pm

With the exception of a problem with email this morning. The migration appears to have gone smoothly.

If you update files on caves.org via FTP and if it was necessary for me to modify any of those files to properly work in the new server environment, I have already sent you an email with the list of files that were modified.

Just to give you some idea of the scope of this migration...

103 email accounts
16 databases
2 domains
6 subdomains
120 FTP accounts
119 files modified

If you have a problem with anything on caves.org that appears related to the server migration, please contact admin @ caves.org.

I will remain available through the weekend via skype: vtdarrell and aim: vtdarrell, and then intermittently through the week (I do have a full-time job).

If you notice a problem with caves.org, please don't hesitate to contact me. If I don't immediately respond, I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

I was having trouble uploading the NSS Awards web page updates this morning. I will try again and see if I can upload them now.

Thanks!

Darrell,

I'm still getting booted off the NSS server when I try to access it to upload the NSS Awards Committee pages. I've sent you a PM.

Thanks!

I've already replied to Mike Hood, but just in case someone else has a similar problem. Make sure that your FTP host is caves.org. grotto1.caves.org and grotto2.caves.org will still work as they are aliases for caves.org now.

grrrr ok this is the 2nd time I've tried this post :) is it just me or has the stability of Cavechat gone down the toilet. I frequently get "cannot display this page" errors and other minor glitches not to mention it seems much lower. dunno if related to migration or its just me, anyone else having issues?

OK, I switched the board db configuration from mysql to mysqli. The "i" is for "improved." Hopefully, that'll speed up some of the database transactions. As for the hiccup, you had the ill-fortune of submitting your post while I was restarting the webserver to fix something else. Sorry about that... I should have done a graceful apache restart, my bad.
