Research help: hazards mapping related to caves and karst

Postby Cortney Frantz » Jan 29, 2006 5:57 pm

I've just started a masters program at San Jose State University, focusing on geographic information science.

One my classes (seminar, really) this semester involves writing a research paper related to hazards mapping. I'd really like to focus my research and writing on mapping hazards related to caves. At this point, I'm searching for any articles related to these subjects, and was wondering if anyone knew about ones that'd help me? Especially useful would be things related to sinkhole, hydrology, and any other hazards and how they're mapped in the caving world to determine risk factors and the like.

I'm also hoping to choose a thesis topic related to caves and karst and figuring out a useful application of GIS to the subject matter. Suggestions and pointers at possible projects are always appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
