Excellent issue!
I enjoyed Bruce's article on inspecting vertical gear. It took courage to tell that tale of woeful caving, and I salute you, sir, for presenting such a clear story of why we MUST inspect our equipment and not let sentiment guide our selection.
Ron Zuber's article on Bill Steele was informative and entertaining. I've read Bill's articles/trip reports since the '70s and he's always doing something interesting underground! I too plan to cave into my '70s...
Danny Brass' review of "Opening Goliath"...well, I'm reading the book right now. John Ackermann has been my friend for 14 years, and digging/survey/exploration with him in Spring Valley Caverns and other assorted Minnesota projects allowed me to decompress on weekends during the grueling and at times gruesome medical school experience in the Twin Cities. It is an interesting review, I'll say.
Keep up the great work, Dave!
