does anyone know...

Postby graveleye » Dec 12, 2006 4:45 pm

does anyone know the name of the book and/or video that described the connection trip between the Flint Ridge and Mammoth systems? I recall it from several years ago, but now the whole thing eludes me. Was it just a National Geographic special?

Speaking of National Geographics... I used to have an issue that featured caving from waaaay back in the 60s that I looked at so much as a kid it went to tatters and disintigrated. Is it possible to get reprints? I would love to see that old issue again. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this very issue had an article describing the tragedy of the USS Thresher.

The Longest Cave may possibly be the best book ever and the one you were specifically asking for , but you should check out The Grand Kentucky Junction , available from Speleobooks and Cavebooks , I hope still , it is the account of the famous connection trip by the participants as they recollected it a few years after. It is very good also.

Kev,

I may have a copy of that NG issue around if you want it. PM me your address and I'll look tonight in my caving books box.
