I got mine today, slightly damaged from page 173 to the back cover, appears to have been in the mailing process, but still useable. :-)

Hi all,

This is very interesting! The Members Manuals were mailed out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I just got mine yesterday and I'm the Editor!!

A guy in Florida e-mailed me over the weekend; I guess he got his on Saturday. And friends in nearby towns got theirs 2 or 3 days before I got mine. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason.

Scott--I already have a Swago pack. I want a cupcake! LOL.

Mail delivered in Livermore, CA

Postby David_Weaver » Jul 3, 2006 10:52 pm

USPS delivered my copy today, undamaged. This event always brings to mind the image of Steve Martin in the movie The Jerk, dancing around shouting "The new phone book is here!"

So, who in the lower 48 gets their mail even later than me?

I actually did that... just for kicks and giggles... "The new manual is here the new manual is here!!" flipping through the pages... finding P... finding.. Powers... finding... Ralph E. Powers... then ... looking up (at nothing in particular) in silent reverent awe and self-assured affirmation ... "I'm gonna BE somebody!"

The scene that follows is hilarious. "HE HATES THESE CANS!!!"

So I guess finding members in your own state will be a trick with this manual.

Well it's one of my little peeves with it. I'd prefer members by state than by alphabetical... easier to find "that guy's name we went caving with from Kansas??... (flip flip flip)... ah there he is, Joe Schmoblo"

The Members Manual has been alternating sorts by name and then by State and name for as long as I can remember.

Find'em by state first if you need to, then check the latest manual for an updated address if it has changed.

Just keep two years of manuals on hand all the time. Simple and the best of both worlds, I think.

Ah, I remember this little discussion with the last Member's Manual. Personally I prefer it the other way - I don't really have a "home state", so one alphabetical listing for everyone is fine for me. Listing by state is my pet peeve. But as Phil says, alternating issues give you the best of both worlds - so it makes the most sense to keep doing it that way.

And I'm still waiting for my Member's Manual in Washington state. I got July's NSS News a week ago, but June's is still missing in action...
