Springs of West Virginia

Postby nathanroser » Sep 21, 2012 11:32 am

I am currently doing a bit of schoolwork looking into hydrology in Germany Valley. I'm looking to see if anyone here knows how I might obtain or borrow Spring of West Virginia so I could get some info on Judy Springs.

There is little about Judy Springs except the location in the 1986 Springs of West Virginia. There was a 1936 edition that is entirely different. You might find more information in Dan Zinz' Masters thesis

I don't know if this is still a timely post...

The Springs books doesn't have much (anything?) on Judy Springs. It lists the spring as McDonald Spring and has the location way wrong--in the northern part of the valley, not west of the quarry.

You're far better off just talking to Gordon Brace about the spring.

I measured the flow once, below the quarry. It was 1762 gallons per minute. I beleive I decribed the water flow as being on the low side.

I'd also be interested in any articles (for The West Virginia Caver) you want to write on the hydrology of the valley.

That's all.
