2012 Members Manual Database SNAPSHOT To Be Taken 2/24/2012!

Hi NSS Members,

The 2012 NSS Members Manual will be published in April, which means we will be taking the “snapshot” of the membership database THIS FRIDAY! Yes, that means February 24, 2012.

If your information is incorrect, please go to https://secure.caves.org/nssapps/changeinfo.shtml and update your information. It is your responsibility to keep this current. If, by chance, someone in your grotto does not have e mail access, he or she can call the NSS Office at 256-852-1300.

Remember, too, that this year we are voting electronically for Directors on the Board of Governors, so please be sure your information includes a valid e mail address. While you can still ask for a paper ballot to be mailed, we’re doing this to save the Society money.

To sum up, check today whether your information in the NSS database is correct, current, and includes a valid e mail address. If you don’t do this before Friday, your information will be wrong in the printed Members Manual. And then how would your friends find you?

Where can we look to see if our info is correct?

Just use the member search on the caves.org site and search for your NSS number. I don't think it shows your contact info but it will show you your address and such in the NSS database.

Member Search does not give your street address. It gives your NSS number, whether you're a Life Member or not, zip code, expiration date of membership, city, and state.

I use it mostly to check to see if someone joined after November 2010, when the last Members Manual was published. That is the easiest way to check your data--check the 2010 MM.

If you think you might have contacted the NSS Office or changed your data online since then, but are not sure, send the NSS Office an e-mail with your NSS number and ask that they check your info. You might want to make it really easy for them--give them your entire address, e-mail address that you want published and ballots sent to, phone number, and even your cell number (new!). That way the Office can verify without having to retype a bunch of stuff. I imagine they are quite busy this week checking database info for members. :)
