Did anyone else get a $2 in their April NSS News?

If so, what gives?

I only got one $2 in one News; the other News I get didn't contain one.

You mean like a $2 bill? I didn't see one in mine, although my wife might have pocketed it before she gave me the News.
Maybe the board decided that the recent dues increase was a bit much, and decided to send us a rebate. I hope mine shows up soon! :bananabat:

It was a brand-new $2 bill purposely stuck in the middle of my April News.

Given cavers affinity for $2 bills, I figured it had to be a caver doing it.

It was only in one of the two News I get.

Makes me want to see what is in the May issue...

Maybe Dave Bunnell's running some sort of Where's Waldo contest? You could donate it to the Organ Cave SWAT team training fund. :tonguecheek:

Maybe it's like the golden ticket from Willy Wonka and Gordon Birkhimer will give you a personal tour of the NSS Headquarters! :kewl:

Wow that must be the ink that I missed. Four pages were blank in mine. At least you got a $2 bill, with my luck I would have gotten a $3 bill. Or maybe a bill for the national debt.

Mine was OK. but I did notice the cover paper felt different. Not as smooth...somehow seemed "cheaper". though I have no objective measure for that.

Dave Bunnell has figured out the mystery--here is his answer.

Now I feel like the person who broke the news (ages ago) that the Rolling Stones were playing small bars under another band name. Maybe I told something I shouldn't have....

Anyway, here's Dave's answer:

Well, I've outed the story of the two-dollar bill from Terry. Apparently Terry has been slipping a bill into one issue (not clear if always just April or every month) for "about six years." Kind of an Easter Egg, as you will, to see if someone notices. As far as we have now heard, you George are the first to say something about it. So george is the grand winner for cavers who were at least curious enough to ask. Maybe the others thought they would have to pay it back...

I've asked him to write a little paragraph explaining why...has to do with an old convention tradition of trying to spread two-dollar bills around the local economy, from cavers.
