I saw this light at Crawl-a-thon this weekend. IMO had it. Here it on their web site: LINK.

I think it's brighter than the StenLight, but it should be since it has FOUR 3 watt LEDs. But it's bigger and heavier than the Sten.

Wow I would say it is heavy. It looks like it Takes 4 D cell batterys. The cool thing is that you can disconect the batt. pack and wear it on a belt. It is going to be interesting to see others views on this. The only thing is the price of the new fox fury does look to be alittle forgiving in price. They probly could have put it in a smaller casing if the eliminated alot of the features like SOS, Stobes and others to make the circuts smaller. I don't know I am not good at electronics.

Four C batteries actually.

I'm not sure why they have 70% and 100% settings - such a small difference in relative power would seem likely to be barely noticeable.
Rather than strobe settings, I'd have thought a low-power setting for extended battery life would have been more likely to be of use.

What kind of beam pattern is there - do the inner and outer LEDs give a different spread?

All 4 LEDs are placed at different angles to create an oval shaped beam pattern. The emmission angle difference between first and last LEDs is over 20 degrees.

I saw this light in action over a 5 hour survey trip yesterday.
Even the owner of this virgin light said it couldn't hold a candle (power) to my Princeton Apex. No brag. I didn't build the light. And the Apex will be replaced in a year by something better, no doubt.

Since most Colorado cave passages I hang around in aren't huge and don't require a big light, I wouldn't need something that bright. I would worry also about destroying the night vision of my fellow cavers, if I looked in their direction. I think cave passages look more inviting and pleasing when they aren't totally lit -- but I go back to the days of carbide lights.

I noticed that there is an error on the IMO store regarding our Pro Series. The Pro Series has four 1 (not 3) Watt LEDs. We will eventually offer the four 3 Watt LED version at some point in the future.

Just wanted to let you know that the Pro III Tactical light is now available--it uses four 3 Watt CREE XR-E LEDs for an output of 500 lumens (1/2 the brightness of our MF 1000 flashlight).

The Pro III Tactical uses CR123 batteries and is lighter (and brighter) than our Pro Outdoor and Work models. The light has 6 modes, including SOS.
