Carbide lamp nozzle

Postby stefan » Jan 26, 2010 3:43 am

I have an old carbide lamp that I want to repair. The only problem I found with it was the nozzle. The original hole is completely filled (so filled that I couldn't even find the actual hole to try cleaning it). Another problem the nozzle has is that it's leaking gas somewhere around the ceramic tip.
Does someone have any idea on how and if it can be repaired ?

How about building a new nozzle ? I could maybe do this but I don't know how big the hole should be and what material I could use. From what I read from internet pages the hole is actually very small 0.2-0.3mm is this correct ?

Any other ideas are welcomed.

Thanks !

I used to use several brands of carbides and used a tip reamer from bob and bob to clean the tips, this had to be done alot from what I remember.I carried a tip reamer around my neck on a lanyard with a mico light because I used it each time I changed carbide. Not sure if bob and bob still sells them.I like everyone else went LED.I kept my old auto lights as shelf collectables.
It only takes one person to surrender a dog to a kill shelter ,but it takes many to rescue it.

Stefan,

I many have a bunch of these that I used with my Petzyl roof burner and Fisma generator. Hmmmm...I may have given them all to a caver in Huntsville. Try Petzyl to see if they still sell them. I'm fairly sure they will. I'll still check my spare parts drawers for them.
