Mechanix Light Gloves

Postby Dan Sullivan » Jan 23, 2006 1:16 am

A friend of mine showed me a pair of gloves and suggested them to me for caving.

They actually look pretty durable, and thought about getting a pair for digging and possible secondary light source. We have dry caves where I normally cave at. I doubt they would hold up to water or wet cave environment. Any thoughts, or has anyone tried these underground yet?

One minor thought - I think they've got mixed up between their lumens and millicandelas (or their lumens and expected LED lifetime).
10,000 lumens would be as bright as ~ 300 1Watt Luxeons.

heh heh I saw those gloves and the 10,000 lumen rating and for a sec was like WOAH!! Then reality set in and I was like aww man! Still its is a cool idea. Early astronauts used a similar concept during the days of the Mercury program. I think they had a tiny light in each finger.
never stop imagining what could someday come to pass...
