Adapting a Stenlight for cycling

Postby johnlhickman » Jul 15, 2009 11:12 am

I am doing a long (200 mile) bicycle ride in a couple of weeks and want to use a lightweight and bright light on my road bike, so I figured that I could put my Stenlight to use.

I noticed that there is handlebar mount that Stenlight will have that is currently "Under Development."

Anyone have suggestions on a mont for the steering wheel or bike helmet. I don't want to put a blade mount on the helmet and drill holes, which wouldn't work very well because of the styrofoam-like material on the helmet.

Thanks.

How about the Head Strap and zipties?

I bought the Stenlight Headstrap for mine and had Howies Harness to sew me a waterproof pouch for the battery. works great

I found one solution here,

http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/ ... px?sc=FRGL

The only challenge was the light was a little bouncy on rough roads because of the rubber interface. I also missed having the ability to turn my head and see off the road. Kind of hard to do this when it is on the handlebars.

May go ahead and get the headstrap if it fits over my bike helmet. Do you have to remove the blade mount to attach the headstrap?

I'd just add a smaller light to your helmet and keep your sten on the handlebar. It has a better angle for lighting up the trail from low down.
