Yeah, not everybody is familar with these. I did a google search. They're kneepads.

Note, that the "daddy" part has two "d"s instead of the origninally posted one, or you might not find the website.

Curiously, their page of "Prouduct Pics" doesn't have any pictures on it.

On the other hand, IMO sells them and do have a picture:

I have a friend that bought a pair during the TAG Fall Cave-In. She won't go without them ever again! She does wish that she would have gotten the Medium instead of the large now that they are broken in a bit. I'm hoping that she will buy the smaller size so that I may pick up a lightly used set of Large for myself LOL............

How do the seams look like? Do you think they will bust out like the bomber do? I really want them but I do not want to spend 60 dollars on something thats going to fail after a couple of trips in. Sorry about the earlier post i thought everybody knew about the new pads.

Well the pads that I have seen in action haven't been put to a real hard core test as of yet. I'm hoping to do just that though in the next month or so. I haven't been a real fan of knee pads in the past just because they rub the back of my knees raw and are just a pain in the butt to keep in place but after seeing how these perform and just how comfortable they made my 'tester', I'm getting a pair of these this year!! You can check them out for yourself on the IMO website.

I know the developers/makers of those pads. They are hardcore cavers who really put them to the test. I will probably be seeing them this weekend. I will check to see how long the first pairs have been in use and post back on Sunday night or Monday.

I haven't bought me a pair yet because I haven't worn out my last pair of pads. I need a new pair of boots and a new light before I get new knee pads.

I picked up a pair at Fall Cave-In. I'm not crazy about haveing to worm them on, but since I have been wearing them I dont seem to get bruises under my kneepads any more. Even with my bombers I always end up with a few, but none with eh CrawlDaddies. They look like the same ripstop material the bombers were fashioned from, and it may be a bit heavier than the materaisl the Lost Creek stuff I have is made from. So far no complants or signs of wear.

In my opinion, $60 for kneepads is nuts, regardless of how nice they are.

I'm using pads I paid over $50 for over 5 years ago. Since I wear them mostly under my outer pants they are still in good condition. Of course I'm in the 55+ age group so my knees are showing a bit of age.

The "life span" of the crawldaddies is unknown since the first ones were sold by a vendor at the NSS Convention this past summer. The prototypes have been in use since last winter/spring. I saw a couple of those early pads this morning that were still in very good condition and believe me they have not been "babied".

Having seen them in use I can say that if they continue to produce them my next pair of pads will most likely be crawldaddies.

As stated above they are designed to wear under your outer layer.

The "woming them on " is what makes them stay put. :big grin:

If you wish you can wear them with just the straps for a quick "pit bounce" or "checking out a hole" while ridgewalking.

Martha,
If your willing to spend $60.00 for a pair of knee pads, you should check out these knee pads. They are made locally by Colorado cavers and are all the rage around here. I just sent a pair off to the Roebucks for testing out there in TAG country. :kewl:

Hi, I had just got a pair for X-mas. I have used them several times and they are indeed very nice. I was suprised at how comforatable they are, I hiked to a cave with them in place. The only thing I don't like is you have to put them on before you put your boots on which is a minor inconvienence. They really do stay in place which is a first for me, over all performance 1-10 would be a 8.5.
Good Luck

Hey Dan - I may see if Brian and Lynn will let me check out the pads. The straps are the problem for me with the design.

My current pads have 3 3-inch wide elastic straps to hold them in place. No buckles. Like someone said the draw back is you have to put them on before you put on your boots but at least they stay in place.

The thing I like about the "crawldaddies" is the slip on neoprene. The buckle straps are an extra feature that I don't see as needed.

I like my knee pad to hug my leg. Guess it goes back to starting to cave with those old "volleyball" pads. Also the fact that I wear my pads just over polypro and not over my outer pants makes thin straps "cut into my flesh" when I get them tight enough to stay put.

I figure my current pads are good for at least another year so it gives me time to check out the ones you sent to my area.

Well, it is a beautiful day here in Sewanee TN so since I'm off work I think I'll go for a walk in the woods with my two big black dogs.
