I think they're just an overshoe with built in crampon spikes. Good for ice caves maybe? I wonder why a place like Karst Sports would sell them?
I would not think they would be useful for general caving though.

Agree with Joey.

You want a boot that is going to leave minimal impact on the cave. the steel spikes would be damaging to some cave surfaces . . . not to mention slippery on rocks.

Culverson Creek

However, there are times when "golf" spikes, for lack of a better term, are nice to have. I tried to follow Billl Balfour up the Mudderhorn in Culverson Creek. It's a 100' high mud bank. He had specially made shoes with spikes while I had Vibram soles. Guess who made it to the top without getting slimed? However, the down side was Bill had less traction when we crossed a breakdown pile than I had. We both survived the trip. Jep.
