I haven't published the 1000 lumen design yet partially because I haven't really fixed this problem- how to protect the LiIons without sealing them completely in epoxy. Any ideas?

What, you mean you didn't like my tool-dipped LiIon packs??

The directions link http://www.emesine.com/light.pdf seems to be broken? I'm interested in checking out these directions...

light directions

Sorry, I didn't pay my webhosting bill! The site should be up and running now.

Lava- Your batteries are prefect for a helmet mounted light, but I need something that will protect my batteries on a hip mounted light. A layer of tool dip is not quite enough...

There's no reason the waterproofing and the protective shell have to be the same mechanism. Do the shrink-wrapped and tool dipped method, then put the whole thing inside a thin aluminum shell (either a cylinder or square tube cut to length. You could then shrink wrap that and put it in a cordura sleeve. As long as there is air space and some degree of flexibility immediately around the battery, you should be able to put a hard shell outside that to resist impact/compression. Wrapping all the batteries togeather and waterproofing them as a unit should provide you with enough air space between the batteries. Just a thought.

Love the design. I would like to make one but with a few modifications. I will email you at some point soon to talk about what you think might work.

Peace, Eli
