Frontal lamp: white colour, 60 metres

Postby Ursus Spelaeus » Sep 7, 2007 5:08 am

In the summer of 2006, during a trip in Iceland, I've seen in a shop a very interesting frontal lamp, helmet lamp.

It was white coloured and the light reach the 60 metres...

I don't know the name of this lamp. I remember the price: about 60 euros.

I have very few infos, I know :)

I haven't bought it because the only 2 items in the shop didn't work...

Maybe you know this lamp and, if so, where I can find?

Thanks.

Ursus,
I don't recall ever seeing white colored caving headlamp, however, the Brunton L3 is white and shines for 207 (?) feet according to the specs.

It could certainly be used for caving and I know a few (very few) cavers who use one. Something about the multiple battery packs makes this light look shoddy and not really suited for hard caving. I do know that it was a really bright light when it was first introduced a few years ago (I think it was the first mass-produced 3 watt headlamp other than the ST Nova) but much better designs have come along since this. A Princeton Tec Apex would be more versatile than this light for alot less money.

The Tikka XP is a great 2nd or emergency light. The slide lens for "tight" and "wide" beams is handy and easy to use.

It's also great to whip out for those surprise nighttime bushwhacking sessions.

An efficient headlamp with a compact design. LED headlamp with 3-watt output power, which lights up to a distance of 63 metres and is suitable for running or skiing. The headlamp also has an external battery pack, which increases the illumination time by up to 300 % and makes it possible to keep the batteries inside your jacket when it’s cold.
