GPS waypoint organizer software

Postby bsignorelli » Aug 15, 2007 9:52 pm

I've looked and there doesn't appear to be a good piece of software for organizing your cave locations/waypoints. I have the National Geographic software (TOPO!) and the Garmin Mapsource software but they both suck (in different ways).

I've googled but to no avail.

What I'm interested in is some software that lets me manage waypoints in different categories (caves, sinks, pits, parking, camping spot) and easily send what i need to GPS.

Say I want to just take the data for the area around a certain location (or even just a quad maps worth of data) ... currently I have no way to send just that.

Nor is there an easy way to add the gps points from todays ridgewalk to your files without just adding them all and deleting the older ones... but this winds up with lots of duplicated points.

Anyways... thanks for thinking...

Try EasyGPS.
http://www.easygps.com/
You can organize, and store waypoints on your computer. You can also pull the waypoints from the GPS or send waypoints to the GPS.
It's really basic but its free!

Looking for more? Try Geocaching Swiss Army Knife.
http://gsak.net/
It's designed for geocaching, but it has a lot more features than EasyGPS. It is shareware. You can use it free for 2 weeks I believe. Then you are locked out, until you register (around $15).

Hope that helps!
