I have modded several lights this way. Its pretty bright, but as mentioned int heother thread, I'm not sure how long the bulb will last being overdirven as it is. Its a nice cheap way to get a small bright spotting light to point out formations in a cave. Buyt he batteries online, much cheaper, e-mail me if you want to know of some good sites. tooleyg@cox.net. At Wal-Mart the batteries are about 2 for $10, so it would be $15 in batteries for this mod.

If you need CR123, check out the Surfire Brand. I was getting them at Sportsmans Warehouse for about $4 for 2. They seemed to perform well. I think they lasted about as long as the Duracells.
