I don't know what if anything Lamar has "sent up to Roppel" but Jerry from Dive Rite is my buddy. And he, personally, is setting me up. He's really gone out of his way to make sure I'm set up.

Meanwhile, I watched a Pelican light flood yesterday. In the spring pool it had a half inch of water in the head. Then in the after a shallow dive, there was about an inch and a quarter in there.

I kept reading about thanks for something, but missed whatever it was that he was being thanked for (just read thanks for the great support, so was wondering if he was sending up something to use/try out.)

Did the light continue to function? I have a PT headlamp that is supposedly waterproof down to 300 feet, and it has filled completely with water every time it has been below the surface. It still works though, just have to be sure to wipe it out good and dry everything afterwards. My cannister light got just a few drops of water inside the battery, and it was toast in less than five minutes. I have come to like cheap lights for some reason.

That may have been me misconstruing who was sending Harnesses to carry tanks.I read it in few emails.Maybe I need to thank Jerry instead

The report is that the Pelican light did function but it had a "wa wa" effect to it because of the giant amount of water flowing around inside the headpiece.

I didn't know that there were harnesses being sent. I don't know if it matters so much if you thank Jerry or Lamar. Recognizing that it's Dive Rite would be the important thing. Yay!

Just for me, personally, Jerry, and Jill, too, have really helped me out a lot. I've been swimming with my sump bag for practice. I *hate* it. It puts me off balance. Jill and I call it my "dead baby" since it's kind of round and lump like and heavy and you carry it like a baby. It leaks, too.

Can I interest you in an "would be imported" but very slick and smooth Swaygo?I have kept mine dry inside through ducks.

Thanks Doug, I got baraged with the mass of emails and was attempting to pick out the important stuff and figured I must have missed something somewhere.

The PT's that have flooded on me, I could notice that the beam was somewhat degraded, but they functioned without so much as a flicker. Of course, they were completely filled with water so there was no room for any sloshing inside the lights.

What are you using for your sump bag, just a regular dry bag? I have yet to try the Swaygo, like Doug suggested, but I have heard others speak about using them with success. Seems like the Swaygo might be easier to carry through the sump.

I can send my Swaygo down for testing with Scott. How much are you packing?

I, of course, own my own Swaygo. I think the reason I didn't think of using it, is that it is very thick and stiff. Which means that it doesn't conform to the contents very well which means it holds air! Which means you have to carry more lead!

Sure, in dry caving, the amount of air doesn't make a hill of beans worth of difference. But when you're trying to submerge it, it can make a big difference.

Also, while I have the biggest one, it isn't all that big. Though as I've changed my mind about how to haul certain gear, I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I can get by with less. I had been towing a sump bag, but Jill figured wearing a "back pack" would be better. Undoubtedly it would be more streamlined.

The stiffness and the limited size are two factors that have deterred me from trying a Swaygo thus far; I had not considered the extra air they might trap due to that stiffness. If most of what I was carrying would not be affected by water, I would probably opt for a pack (with a grommet in the bottom so the water drains out) and look smaller alternatives to keep the sensitive items safe. No matter what you use it is going to add drag to your profile that can only be managed through practice and experimentation.
