5 watt minimag adapter

Does anyone have experience with the 5 watt adapter for the AA minimag?
One of the sellers says the head won't stand 5 watts because of heat but
the actual output is about 2.5 watts.
I have a 3 watt AA mini mag. that I'm thrilled with.
Does this mean the 3 watt doesn't put out 3 watts? It looks as bright as my Apex.

It is truth; sort of. The minimag 3 watt does infact have a "3 watt LED", but it doesn't have to be driven at a full 3 watts, and in many cases, they aren't because of heat issues, etc. For example, sevral years ago, I bought a terralux 1 watt LED, single AA cell minimag, which they had already modified. The dang thing wasn't bright at all compared to todays regulated one watt lights.
Haven't heard of a 5 watt mod for a minimag, so I can't comment on it.

Yup, it's a 5W emitter running at 2.5W or there abouts.

I have two of the AA 3 Watt Mag lights. One takes 3-AA and the other works on 2-AA. Does that mean that neither of these are really 3 Watt lights.

They are just 3 Watt emitters, but they are not driven to full capacity.

Maybe that is why the 3-AA is brighter than the 2-AA. :
