:exactly: My choice too! I've really enjoyed the helmet. I cave with an ancient "wheatlamp" so I added a light bracket to the front of my helmet.

Black Diamond Half Dome.
I've also used an Petzl Ecrin Roc (stuck up too high), a modified construction helmet (backwards with homemade strap; very nice), the Edelruds (nice) and a variety of older helmets (heavy).

Plus I have a spare Ecrin Roc with the whole carbide setup, which is also good (but seldom used these days).

Used a Petzl Elios for a while...hated the hard foam liner and it got REALLY hot. Switched to a Kong Magic in the fall and love it.

Have (and currently use) a Kong Magic. Loved it initially but somewhere along the line the fit changed??! Now it seems to sit too hight and I can't get the chinstrap "v"s to give my ears clearance - foam pad up top also came loose. Guess I'm in the market for a new helmet but for now making do with what I've got. Also hoping that once I get around to regluing the pad maybe the fit will revert to what it was. Fingers crossed.

What's that foam padding in the top of the helmet for anyway? Mine feel out after my first cave trip. Just a flimsy little piece of foam.

I've had both the Edelrid and (after I lost the Edelrid helmet in the Carrizozo Malpais lava bed) the Petzl Ecrin Roc. I like the Petzl better, because the suspension is easier to adjust with the thumb wheels, and the ventilation is a bit better. :kewl:

Don't know, but I tend to operate on the conservative guess that if it wasn't important, the maker wouldn't put it in. Anyone else have info/inside knowledge on this? I'm a bit wimpy about modifying safety gear.
