Water filter straw

Postby Scott McCrea » Aug 2, 2006 2:43 pm

Harbor Frieght has a water filter that is actually a straw. I wonder how this would do in a cave? Certainly smaller than a regular filter, but certainly bigger than a few water purification tablets. Anyway, it sells for $8.00. LINK

there is a water filter bottle that has a .2 micron filtration.

I use mine all the time for camping. Just fill it in a lake or stream

I have one of those also. Great bottle. They also have less expensive ones for when you just want the water to taste good.

That's amazing that they would say that it removed cryptosporidium, since medical journals and experts says that you must have a filter smaller than 1 micron to filter it. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency ... 000617.htm

I also read that many other bacteria range in size from .5 micron to 2 micron. So I am amazed that they say it is ok for camping and hiking. I recommend the http://www.purewater2go.com filter. It has a .2 micron filter.
