The Made in China ones are made by the same factory as the Rayovac Hybrids, and perform about the same as the Hybrids.
Very interesting! Has this information been reliably confirmed, or only rumor?
Out of curiousity, what's the mAh rating of the Eneloops (and "Duraloops")?
It's reliably confirmed as best as detective work and deductive reasoning will allow. There are very few factories that actually make LSD cells (at one time, there were only 3 in the world), and most brands were just rebrands from the same couple factories. Yuasa Delta makes the majority of non-Eneloop cells.
Eneloops are 2000mAh min, >=2100mAh typical. The added benefits of Eneloops which make them "premium" over other LSD cells is higher voltage under load (lower voltage sag), higher tolerance to over charge and over discharge (more robust), and longer life (more charge/discharge cycles).
