Need advice re rubber caving boots

Postby Nicholai Hel » Jul 11, 2015 9:54 am

I've recently gone back to caving after a 10 year absence and used the same pair of boots I used on my last caving trip.

The boots were stored in a dark cabinet and they still look ok, but they seem to be somewhat stiffer than before. Is there a way to restore or soften the rubber?

I would suggest that you try to get the boots wet and then they will loosen up and not be as stiff. I have had my caving boots stiffen up before and then I wore them for a wet cave trip where there was a lot of wading through water and they became unstiff.
