Sorry first off for the noob question, Wife and I joined nss years ago and got really into caving. After a few months she got pregnant and we stopped. 7 years later thinking about taking it back up and was wondering should I buy new helmets or you think the ones I bought 7 years ago are still usable? Been stored in a basement in my gear room this whole time at 69 degrees if that helps any. Mine is a explorer and hers looked like mine but bare, Think they are ecrin rocs but dont see em on the website any more.

Yeah, they don't make the Ecrin Rocs any more. I, personally, would have no issue with using an old helmet. Glad you're getting back into it. Welcome to Cave Chat.

They aren't that old. :big grin: I wouldn't be afraid to use them. I'd use that money to buy a couple of new LED lights to go on them. :exploring:

Thanks for all the responses, Figured they would be good to go but can never tell. Mine has the old school 3 led small pill and a 1 watt led bulb as main, I always thought they was more then enough. But both of our mains are carbide, Gear room has about 20lbs of calcium carbide with two generators and two lamps still in like new shape so plan on using em. Now just need to hook up with a grotto and see if its as fun as I think it yusta be. Last time we went was 07 convention in Marengo,Indiana. Good times and rained like cats and dogs.

Projects are still ongoing in Big Bat cave, Thornhill cave, and Websters cave. These caves are pretty close to Irvington. KKC can tell you about Big Bat. Fort Knox grotto (small) can tell you about Thornhill.

We yusta do southern indiana but am open to kentucky trips since they are about the same distance. I guess need to put more time in on getting with a grotto and taking a trip. My only problem with hooking up with a grotto that far away is through the week I have no extra time, Evansville had one years ago assume they still do and its 30 minutes away verses hour and half to knox or bowling green or two hours from louisville.

If you're selling carbide lights in working condition, I may be interested. Feel free to PM.
