I've switched from the Apex light after several of them (and several modifications). I'm pretty sure I have models after 2007 (per article). But interesting story about outsourcing to China, then back again (for the most part).

The Apex, and many of the other Princeton Tec lights you are familiar with were always made her in New Jersey, USA for what it's worth.

Cheers,

Amazing. I didn't know they made anything in the USA any more. And both my Princeton Techs are still chugging along!

Still using and loving my Apex. I did have to add some ShoeGoo to the cable connection points a few years ago to keep the water out. I would assume that some of the more recent lights have better regulation that the Apex, giving longer battery life. However, for the price, it's still hard light to beat, and Princeton Tec stands behind their lights better than anyone else on the market. Period.

Ok, so my Apex died in cave two weeks ago. Nothing like a dead light in a tight crawl. I went caving with my wife's Apex over Labor Day weekend, and was reminded how much nicer the Apex was when it was new. I'll probably call PT to see if they will replace it, or just buy a different light.

Mine died in a cave a few weeks ago in a cave. The reason it's always good to have backup. They treated me right. I called got an RMA and only paid to ship it back. They actualy replaced mine with a new one for free. :big grin: :bananabat:

Got my RMA too. Unlike many companies who make similar claims, PT stands behind their lights. I can see why LLBean (who is almost legendary for their guarantee of LLBean branded items) would confidently stamp their name on PT lights. There is a reason I'm still using an Apex while many of my friends have switched to Stens.
