Here's some light reading to start you off:

http://radiolocation.tripod.com/LEDdimm ... immer.html (beware of pop-ups)

http://www.resurgentsoftware.com/Perfect_LED_Light.html

http://www.cs.indiana.edu/~willie/lvr.html

I know it's not nearly as much *fun* as building your own, but commercial headlamps are getting better and cheaper all the time. Take the Princeton Tec Apex, for example... http://www.caves.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=600

Good luck!

Candlepower forums was recomended to me:

But as NZcaver said there are some very good lights coming out with most of the stuff you need for caving (I find anyway) I have an Apex now and it's great :-)
